Over the past 12 months, we have sold over 3000 bags of Nutramare via the website and taken the hit on the postage costs. Following feedback early on in the journey, we lowered the postage cost from £6.95 to £5, whilst a 10kg bag of food was costing us around £7 to ship with no packaging. The 15kg bags of sink were at that point costing around £9 to post to customers so even before the reduction, we were at a loss.

After sitting down and planning for 2026, we agreed that the price of the food itself had to remain the same as 2025, but the shipping was causing us a problem. Alternative couriers were looked at, but we couldn't shake the fact that with Royal Mail we had faced less than 20 incidents in the past 12 months where customers faced an issue. We consulted the Nutramare UK whatsapp group and unanimously it was agreed that changing the service but keeping the price the same wasn't an option. Throughout the course of 2025, we have been hit with 2 major price increases, the first in April which we managed to swallow, but the second in October meant it was now unfeasible to use the service we trust. A single 10kg bag increased to £8.10 and a single 15kg bag increased to £13.60. 

Unfortunately, this has meant we have had to put measures in place to increase the postage costs. We appreciate that this does impact the overall cost of the product, but we are still losing money on each order. Without these price increases, the 15kg bags of sinking food would no longer be a viable product in the UK and we would have to supply these in 5kg bags only. 

However, this has also led to an updated range offering, with Nutramare now being able to offer 5kg bags across Float, Sink and Tosai, something which was highly requested in 2025. By offering these options, we can continue using the trusted Royal Mail 24hr service, and provide koi food which isn't breaking the bank. On the 5kg bags, we have also introduced a new mix and match bundle, which entitles you to £15 off, the equivalent of free postage.
